We at The Alien Lounge, (TAL), do not give advice, but moderate discussions by teens and for teens only.
Today's youth have access to more information, more decisions to make, and more pressure then any generation before them....Sometimes they might feel like an alien, not being able to relate - or maybe they feel that their parents and the adults around them are completely from another planet! Alien Lounge is the place where the voices of youth and teens internationally can be heard - their points of view expressed, and their thoughts, feelings, and ideas can be shared.
Our Goal:
That today's youth can share their thoughts and feeling and realize that they are, indeed, not alone - that they can learn from one another while also letting adults know what is REALLY on their minds. Furthermore, parents and adults can get insights from the discussions and get a better grasp as to what is really going on in the minds of youth.
The inspiration came from the many focus groups conducted by KidThrive.org and realizing just how much today's youth are looking for a structured outlet to let adults know just what they have to say: What better way to share their voice then to use the technology that today's youth use and learn from everyday?
Who is KidThrive.org?
The people at KidThrive.org are relentless allies for youth in the complicated process of growing up as digital natives - in other words, we help kids survive their youth in this new era of technology, information, and social connectivity. Kids tell us all the time"give us the tools we need and we'll take care of it". So we will try our best to make The Alien Lounge a tool where you can say what is on your mind and let others hear you.
Our Mission:
Using the power of social media to gather relevant information from kids' points of view, we empower local and global advocates to help youth not only survive their growing up years, but to thrive as caring and productive adults.
Over the past 12 years, we have developed and tested out proprietary adaptive learning platform and measurable social media tools. We have proven the value of carious components of a global social network that has already had real-world impact around the United States and reaching over 500,000 kids. The result? Thoroughly better social media applications that allow us to engage youth in their technology-based culture by delivering the information they want and the empowerment they need to improve their daily lives.
